Well it’s been a busy month so far. The day job has kept me hopping and I’ve been working on getting “Two Wheeled Maniac” on it’s feet for ready publishing. I’m happy to say I’m very close to having that done. I know I’m making a lot of mistakes in regards to marketing my first books but that’s how you learn. I’ve just had a week long promotion for “Devil’s Gambit” though I can’t say the return on investment is very promising. However, it has put my name a bit more out there and now I’m working much harder on my Twitter presence (and I guess, I should give Instagram a go as well – shudder). That being said, my sales of DG are pretty steady and I know the next book in that series will drive even more traffic to it eventually.
In film, the rule of thumb at least for me, seemed to be two years. Any action I took, even if I didn’t realize it at the time, would take about two years to bear fruit. I’m hoping the independent publishing thing does have such a long wait but you never know, life is funny that way.
A couple of things are for sure as I work my way through my new book. First off, I need to be far more diligent about how I archive my photography and the second is anything with a picture in it takes a lot more time to organize and format correctly.
The curve is steep but not unmanageable.
