So no picture to head up this post. I’m currently in Bedford, VA at the National D Day Memorial for their June 6 observances.
It’s been an interesting trip down. I’d laid in a track but left myself enough time to deviate from it if things looked interesting or relevant.
I have spent a fair bit of time dodging the coal trucks through PA, W. VA, and VA and anybody who has ever seen one knows how serious a vehicle they are (and they aren’t slowing down or stopping for no one).
I’ve ridden a couple of roads sections that would look fine with the heading, “Road of death,” and have climbed and dropped back into too many mountains and valleys to be counted.
But just to give you an idea of some of the highlights of the last couple of days: The Flight 93 Memorial. The final resting place of a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient (posthumous), in one of the prettiest places I’ve seen and the Green Bank Array (NRAO) which for a space geek like me was pretty cool.
So lots to cover and post up. It should start seeing the light of day next week.
