I had to go down to Stoney Creek today and make some service arrangements for the bike. Nothing major, just the usual pre riding season upkeep. As always I take my camera along cause you never know. It was good and grey and a bit stormy with whitecaps coming in off of the lake under the Skyway. The port was looking nice a smoky so I figured it was a good time to get some industrial shots on my way back. The Fisherman’s Wharf is closed to parking so I had to park up across the road closer to the lake walk. It was hovering about Zero Celsius out of the wind so I plugged in the heated jacket, put on the Balacava, the Wool Hat, and the gloves and took a look over the berm at the lake and saw the above fellow surfing, or trying to surf. The waves weren’t really coming in in sets, more like a general froth of white water. Judging by how red his face is, It looks bloody cold and while I’m not above being a complete idiot on a bike and riding well past the point of endurance, this just seems like a mad pastime to me but when it moves your soul, it moves your soul and kudos to this guy for not letting a thing like sub zero temperatures get between him and his passion.
