Last week, my wife let it be known that I should leave a day early for my trip down south. I think she was worried I’d set my time and distances a little short. She knows I can do the big and long days but I do pay for that kind of riding. So over the course of the Thursday to the following Monday, I rode from home base here in Mississauga to The Wright Brother’s Memorial, in the Kill Devil Hills of North Carolina. From there, I cut back up to Barboursville, Virginia, to catch the Joint Services Airshow at Andrews AFB. Then to cap of a weekend of aviation, I rode up to Hammondsport, NY to the Glen H Curtiss Museum and finally back home.
Like every trip, it had it’s moments of sheer, “Wow!” and of course it’s not so shining moments but at least they were in the small minority this time. I had Kathleen cut and paste the maps into large format that I’ll link to the next articles on this trip as I lay out the four day 2762Km journey.
